Indian Wedding Sarees

India is a nation of various communities living together. Every religion has their own rituals and ceremonies for wedding day. And of-course own traditional style of outfits. In Indian weddings, there are many rituals performed pre wedding and post wedding by the families and relatives. For so many ceremonies, all need so many pair of clothes :) Especially ladies!
Indian ethnic outfits like sarees,salwar kameez,lehenga choli are the first and foremost choices of Indian women for wedding ceremonies. Buying sarees,salwar kameez,lehenga choli starts from the earlier months of the wedding. Most of all bridal sarees are the center of attraction of all. The Indian bridal sarees differ from religion to religion as it is deeply connected with the customs and traditions of that community. The fabric, color, draping styles of the sarees vary depending on the ceremony,community & season. Today, we will see the various Indian bridal wear and traditions behind it.

Gujarati Wedding Bridal Saree :

Panetar is what gujarati brides wear on the wedding day. The panetar sarees are usually gifted to brides by maternal uncle. Panetar is a chaniya choli | ghaghra choli | lehenga choli which is a combination of red,green and white color. The draping of gujarati bridal saree is done with front pallu style. Another net chunni/dupatta is worn over head which is of net fabric and light in weight.

Marathi Wedding Bridal Saree : 

In a Marathi wedding, the bride's outfit should resemble like goddess Parvati. The traditional Marathi bride wedding saree is a nine yard long. Hence, it is also called as Nauvari in regional language.The maharashtrian saree is generally dark green colored saris which makes it unique from gujarati bridal saree in red. The another unique feature of Marathi bride is they wear pearl and less jewellery than other brides.

The draping style is just like Indian men wearing dhoti. The marathi nauvari saree do not petticoat.
